Escape (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Escape is the album's 1981 US band Journey with singer Steve Perry. It was also their most successful album. Commercial and high comes as perhaps the successor Frontiers zoom.
Musically, the typical bombastic melodic American rock, so-called. Adult Orientated Rock (AOR) as it is not done today. At this time perhaps were Foreigner, Boston, Survivor and Toto comparable. Journey rocked but harder, although the band on the radio is often reduced to their ballads.
Also to escape there with Still They Ride and Hits Who's Crying Now (sensational) and Open Arms (very cheesy) 3 songs that fall into this category.
The most famous song of the album is expected to be Do not Stop Believin 'but in the meantime, the often occurred in recent years in films, TV series, talent shows etc.. For me this is the best composition of the band. The song has a very interesting building before he ends almost anthemic.
On Mother Father may singer Steve Perry show vocally especially what he's got. That is also the bombastic song on the album.
The rest of the songs of the plate to rock all very good. Highly recommended are the title track and Stone In Love. But the other songs fall off also not great.
Escape is a very well listenable album, although I can not always bear the kitschy Open Arms. This piece is fortunately at the end of the album.

The 2009 edition has 4 bonus tracks. La Raza Del Sol has Latin influences and would not have the music fit on the actual album. Plus, there's 3 live songs from Houston in 1981 (of which there is also a DVD). Here are presented the hits Do not Stop Believin ', Who's Crying Now (better than the album version) and Open Arms. It is incredible how Steve Perry this strikes every note.

The 16-page booklet provides a lot of photos, album credits, tour dates and an extract from the former Tour program. Lyrics do not exist.

The very loud remastering by Bob Ludwig and Brian Lee dates back to 2006 and is a matter of taste. Some reviewers say elsewhere that the Journey remasters were 1996 more recommendable. I have since, unfortunately, no comparison.

Conclusion:
An album without failure. The musical style of the band but you have already like. I can only give full star number.
