Angela Marchmont is asked by a friend to clarify deaths in her family: her husband's three brothers have died some time ago. In addition, there is the strange testament of her late father. Angela Marchmont found in Underwood House, interviewed family members and all of them are somehow informed of their findings (although not all). That seems to be a bit dangerous. Finally, the murderer would also eliminate them. Angela Marchmont is assisted in the murders of her chauffeur and Inspector Jameson of Scotland Yard. It is helpful to write down the whole family, so you do not lose track is. The story is structured quite adept and the perpetrator was surprising to me. In the novels of Clara Benson of course you can not expect a "Thriller". But the novels are written in a wonderful English, so that it reads like from the first to the last page.
