I was pleasantly surprised by reading this book I did not know the author and indeed this is the kind of story that keeps you going and read in one sitting. The original plot, unexplained epidemic of blindness, pique curiosity and plunges us slowly but distressing way in a world where medicine is helpless and powerless government. How to describe the reactions of healthy and affected populations makes this book a rather fierce painting of human nature where all the little meanness are revealed and where small-scale solidarity stands out as a survival factor. A small downside, however, I had a certain sense of imbalance between the body of the story and the end that seemed very long. In addition, certain statements of the characters seemed to me a bit pompous and sanctimonious feel some willingness on the part of the author. Anyway, it's still a very good book on which we need to look again!
