A masterpiece of Eizo

EIZO CG223W-BK 55.9 cm (22 inches) Widescreen LCD Monitor (DVI, contrast ratio 950: 1, Response Time 6 ms) (Electronics)

Customer Review

Eizo CG223W:

- Function: The picture quality is a class of its own - absolutely inspiring. The Harwarekalibrierung is extremely powerful - however this must be a colorimeter (eg Spyder3 etc.) use, of course, again costs (160). That does not make you, you veschenkt considerable potential of this monitor. The software is self-explanatory and works stable. Even without color theoretical knowledge you can quickly cobble together a set of compatible monitor profiles for different lighting conditions. Can this About the Eizo ColorNavigator then switch quickly.
The larger color space (Adobe RGB is largely covered) actually bring a visible advantage over sRGB with photo-viewing / editing (especially greens). However, one must note that the most photo-exposure unit only work with sRGB, so therefore the great monitor image is not always 1: 1 is reproduced on the printout.

- High quality design (no piano lacquer, so dust and dirt resistant), light guard looks stupid, but is very effective, pre-mounted foot, stable stand and easy ergo mix adjustment.

- Operation: No disturbing noises, excessive heat generation

- For players or video lovers CG223W is rather wengier suitable since become visible in fast moving sequences because of the slow response time of the panel streaks. This is typical of the used S-PVA panel (See PRAD.de-review of its predecessor (CG222W)).

Summary of strengths and weaknesses

++ Image quality (wide color gamut, brilliance, naturalness of the colors)
+ Harware-calibration capability by Color Navigator (however requires colorimeter)
+ Very high quality design, comfortable operation (noise, heat), light guard is very useful (though ugly)
- Slow response time of S-PVA panels, so for players or video lovers unsuitable

Conclusion:
Perfect Monitor for my needs. Unfortunately is not cheap but in my opinion worth every euro. The editing and viewing my photos is hereby become an even bigger pleasure. The 22 "size of the monitor is for me an optimum compromise between powerful graphics processing and sufficiently large representation of the standard Windows / Office desktops. Whether you absolutely gigantic 24" needs with correspondingly tiny menu fonts and system messages, must each decide for themselves - a 24 "monitor in the quality of the CG223W is then also extremely expensive.
For advanced image manipulation the CG223W is ideal for players rather not. I can recommend buying a sincere heart, as long as elaborate photo or graphic editing is of primary interest. As a pure Office monitor the CG223W is clearly oversized in terms of performance - there are certainly cheaper solutions.
