She speaks to him read, he who does not like to read, and for good reason. But as the days, the pages, go becomes their place of an incipient complicity. Everyone is listening to each other, each sparing no efforts to please each other, each learning to 'tame' the other as we tame pigeons.
There is no need for long speeches to say how this reading is moving and enjoyable. I loved this book full of finesse, tenderness and simplicity. A true story, no fuss or frills. A beautiful encounter between two diametrically opposed characters yet.
Some passages are so intense that one wants to say "Thank Germain, is a just reward."
I believe these two sentences sum up the mood:
"... It changes my life, to have met her, Marguerite"
"... Before Marguerite, I had not loved anyone."
