Hot Rocks 1964-1971 (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Everything was better - not only the music in general, but also "Greatest Hits" - or "Best Of" albums. Comparing, for example, "Hot Rocks" with the current Stones compilation "Forty Licks" Of course you get the latter at first glance more for the money (in quantitative terms on the second). But it is also - and I think in the first place - to the compilation or sequence of songs and sometimes it's just too important and good that certain essential songs are simply missing. Although in "Forty Licks" is missing a few features that all acts but so violently arbitrary crammed that it actually can only provoke a yawn with repeated listening. Completely different with "Hot Rocks". As would be first time the incredibly ingenious gambit to open the album with three rather slow numbers (which all three failed to have 40 Licks) to only enter with brute force in "Satisfaction". The first CD includes the years to 67 - Twelve titles, not even 40 minutes it lacks some essential and yet it works.
But even better is Disc 2. What is offered here in compiling and sequence, even albums like "Beggar's Banquet" or "Let It Bleed" equal (of which of course come a majority of the songs ...).
The continuation of this double-album "More Hot Rocks" you should buy as a supplement - but it need not necessarily (the concept is there also a bit different) - "Hot Rocks" is clearly and firmly on its own.
