I was looking for a thin and light notebook for the university. Nevertheless, it should be used when occasional game nights (Guild Wars 2).
Finally, I have decided on the Acer Aspire V5-573G and (backwards) bought at troprebyC.
In addition, I bought also equal a mSATA SSD drive for upgrading and Windows 8 (Warning, you need an external drive to install if Windows is not installed and you would specially on CD to buy!).
This notebook is perfect for me as a player the opportunity! Playing is thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M great fun and still accompanies me the slim notebook to the university! For the price simply the perfect compromise!
I wanted to just buy a fixed gaming PC because so extremely demanding I'm not. I had mobility as important as good gaming performance.
My Plus points:
With upgradeable + SSD card
+ The graphics performance (Guild Wars 2 runs at medium settings liquid, beautiful and easy to play. The notebook is in this case indeed already quite warm, but all within the normal range)
+ The high resolution display (full HD) looks really super
+ Battery life
+ On three sides (left, back and right) USB port
+ The weight and
+ Slim design
My Minus points:
- Yes, it is true that the setting of the display seems a little delicate if you rumpfriemelt fingernails it. In addition, the display when you open the notebook flexes slightly when it touches on only one side. I make simple fact about to open the notebook in the center, then bend anything. However, these are points that do not bother me!
- The touchpad, however, is, as others have mentioned here, quite modest. Anyone with a notebook without an external mouse is much traveling, is frustrated here quickly. I recommend a small wireless mouse for the way.
However, it should be noted that actually the appropriate drivers are installed, with me what this is not the case! With the right drivers it works much better!
To install the SSD drive:
The incorporation of the SSD drive was very easy, but you should be careful when you open the bottom panel that this is not too much flex in the area of ventilation slots, where they could possibly break! The SSD drive should be attached with a small screw, this was not here when buying with me. I helped myself by just branched off one of the many screws of the bottom plate of the notebook for.
The BIOS then as the primary boot disk first select the external drive to install Windows from the CD, then switch to the SSD drive, and everything goes!
Windows 8 and all my programs now run on the SSD drive, which certainly causes a decent speed boost! All my data I store on the other hand, the 500GB HDD disk.
Plus points for the Acer service:
On the Internet you can find lots and lots of horror stories about the abysmal service from Acer. I did however get a very positive impression.
I had my notebook shortly after purchase (warranty) for a display error sending.
It calls the service hotline of Acer, is on his phone key pad the number SNID his notebooks on (is on a sticker on the bottom panel of the notebook) and is further connected to an employee. Have the problem described and then I got an email with instructions and a label for the parcel service UPS. A pick-up date agreed with UPS (the same day !!) and my notebook, neatly packaged for a backup. Sticker on it and off you go!
On the internet I could almost live follow the status of my repair order, however, are for the curious as unfortunately called me no details, only in processing or Completed specified.
UPS my notebook was (including holiday and weekend) brought to exactly 7 days back. A piece of paper with details was:
The display has been replaced, costs incurred no! Even the touchpad was at my suggestion that it is a bit lame, checked and kindly the appropriate drivers have been installed!
Buy recommendation for all with similar ideas of a notebook as I do the upgrade with an SSD but I put all my heart!
