Here we have a young girl of 16 who lives alone with her mother. They see little and only the music seems to be their common point. The mother is a former violinist of great talent and daughter is passionate about rock music.
Amy is obsessed succeed the GLK contest that would allow his group to move to a higher level, to record an album.
So we follow her daily in a rather poor area of London, his passion for music and the weight of his absent father who has kept in touch with his brother, but not with her. On top of that, the girl is prone to hallucinations and periods abscences. Flustered, she did tell anyone but discreetly survey, wondering if his family does not hide a few secrets.
And finally, the cousin of his best friends is coming to town and falls to the same music competition, determined to win. But Amy is troubled by this young handsome dark man who seems to answer his own dark side.
It is a novel rather pleasant to follow: the passion for music, whatever its form, was well noticeable throughout the pages, but the character of Amy has only little relief. It serves more witness this contest and these family secrets.
The fantastic side, slightly raised by the author was a bit disappointed, and I confess that I preferred altogether without it. The passions of each other enough to put the challenge and depth.
We spend a good read, but it still lacks a little something for the novel is quite successful for my taste.
