If, with this book, you expect a police investigation, go your way, you risk being disappointed. Because yes, it is a thriller, but psychological. Fully psychological. It follows Iris in her thoughts, his memories, but also its present. We discover what she saw then the death of her baby. It is broken, unhappy. We learn more about her, her family, her crazy mother and her deceased father.
In parallel, we also follow other people from 1920 to today. If at first I did not understand where the author was getting at, the more we advance, the more everything store. I was grabbed by the story from beginning to end, and I have struggled to win. You have to have nerves of steel to read this book. Expect to get a lot of slaps, to tie you like never to the characters, to feel a lot of empathy for them.
For me, the author has managed a coup. His novel takes the road from A to Z. It disseminates information, clues throughout the story, but she managed to take us by boat just as wonderfully. After a moment, I knew (thought to know) that was hidden behind the killer. Until the end (or so) I thought that finally, I will not be surprised when the masks fall. And ... I literally have made as a beginner.
As the story progresses, the chapters are short, incisive, addictive. It follows alternately Iris and returns to the past to understand the psychology of the characters. And when the truth comes out, we find Iris before the ins and outs of this macabre story. Secrets, rivalry, disappointments, truths. A real good psychological thriller novel, and as I like. You should have seen my head when all was revealed: open mouth and bulging eyes. I was so sure of the identity of the killer, I fell in height. Really. I do not exaggerate my words, so much so that this morning I told my colleague and told him to read it when she could, say it!
It's been some time that I started reading the genre, but with such books, I can only continue on this path. Although it is not a heart stroke, it is a book which I returned. The author manages to perfectly recreate a malaise daily to take us to the guts, to embark on a macabre adventure. I was scared, as was alternate, preferred more than another person, but no, I liked everything, really! It is a thriller that I highly recommend, but be careful, you may take some time to recover you. The descriptions of the author are such that it believes in and we have a heavy heart every word of Iris. The novel is very descriptive, very narrative, there is very little dialogue. And as you know, a novel with very little dialogue tired quickly and there, nay! On the contrary, if it had been more, that I felt in reading this book would have fallen, I'm sure! Go ahead and read it!
