Measured with a Conrad Energy Check 3000, as opposed to "cheap" devices can measure power consumption from 1W accurately this device is displayed with 0.1W "Accuracy" (2 others that I also do that until 6-8W and are thus unusable for this).
This is certainly the most important point I can add to previous reviews, otherwise here a summary in bullet points:
- In fact, low power consumption, so always remain with me.
- But you should disconnect any computer / printer from the network, not only because of the switch, but because the experience shows otherwise consume each 3-8W.
- Silent, no fan
- When installing (edgewise, "air about it") under table no heat, is lukewarm at continuous load.
- Maximum transfer rates between my two Gigabit computers (iMac and FreeNAS box with P3-800) 25MB / s. Limiting here is believed to be the Board of FreeNAS box (Gigabit Ethernet and SATA RAID1 map to de facto a PCI bus, 95% CPU utilization by RAID1 while transferring small files)
- Currently no failures (OK, that one must assess again after one year)
- My first transfer 70GB were "small stuff" on the FreeNAS box, no problem.
- Some CD and DVD images, each with 700MB or 4GB copied (in some comments were large Files identified as problematic) - Again, everything worked - but as I said, so far tested only a week.
Disadvantages I can not see far, but have also each device connected with its own Cat5 or Cat6 cable.
