What I find almost unacceptable for a device in this price range is the power supply. Firstly, there is an external power supply which I find negative principle as an additional box rumfliegt. A built-in power supply, which is connected on the primary side via an IEC connector, would make a much more professional impression.
The power supply itself does not even seem to be a switching power supply, but a transformer power supply (to judge in weight), which therefore is likely to have a lower efficiency. But what is really really bad is the very small, mechanical undersized secondary-side connector. It is a four-pole "DIN plug" (with thicker contacts, as they are known for. B. Super-VHS video cables or PS / 2 mice), of only about 5 mm deep into the appropriate socket in the NAS housing can be plugged so that no really stable mechanical grip (let alone a "lock") comes to pass. You risked so that after a while a loose connection with failure of the NAS created. Of course it is a proprietary power supply, so that one is dependent upon failure to compensation by the manufacturer Synology.
