Customer Review

Fruit of twenty years of research and development in the Yamaha workshops (the world's largest manufacturer of acoustic pianos), the new CFX stands out as one of the best parades facing the Steinway supremacy. Since its release in 2010, many renowned pianists to have been seduced by his enormous musical potential. The latest is none other than Nicolas Stavy, an artist known for both its demand for the personality of his interpretations. Conditioned by a composer to write uncompromising and varied, the choice of this concert grand piano 2.75 m proves a relevance which no one will complain. Expressive and responsive, it deploys a range of harmonics of incredible richness. With a companion of this magnitude, Nicolas Stavy engaged in an own interpretation to sharpen our auditory senses. Intelligently designed, the program is structured around pieces that denote Liszt's enthusiasm for literature, hence its title: "Reading." Under the action of a sensitive and ingenious fingering, the Petrarch Sonnet No. 104 extracted from the Second year of pilgrimage emanates feelings of extreme sensitivity. Basking under a rain of arpeggios, the Blessing of God in solitude refers to Lamartine. Moving at will, again, thanks to a finely tuned set, the voltage is often at its worst. Simple appearance, the six Consolations are based on the collection of poems dedicated Sainte-Beuve to Victor Hugo. Treated in the way of nightlife, here is the memory of a Chopin hovering just disappeared. After the calm the storm. Thus, from the beginning of fantasy - sonata quasi - After a reading of Dante (the other piece of the second part of the pilgrimage Years, based on a poem by Victor Hugo), we are instantly drawn into a whirlwind, even if it is familiar, reminds us that we are dealing with a masterpiece of youth, harmonious and extremely daring. While arguing their legitimacy, these pages are not the only ones to hold our attention. Original version of the final symphonic poem by Liszt, From the cradle to the grave will, for very many music lovers, the big surprise of this disc. Inspired by a painting that had dedicated his Hungarian painter Michael Zichy in musically evokes the main stages of our existence, the composer leads us on the ground of an evolution that is not only physical. Revealing in his time of future musical upheaval, this work amazes us today for its forward-thinking side. Almost never registered, it is the culmination of a poetic and sincere disk. Without erasing our memory other "readings" masterful, Nicolas Stavy nevertheless addresses these pieces as if they had never been before. Beyond its thematic originality, this album should easily conquer the listener that searches the great promoter Liszt romantic ideas he had. What was given to me to hear in this bicentennial year of his birth, this disc, honored with a miking honest and consistent figure, certainly among the very best. To know absolutely!
