After a first volume having laid the foundations of the universe Midkemia and addressed the main characters, we will immerse ourselves in the culture of empire kelewan (the tsuraniens) and social organization, with the fate of Pug destined to become Milamber the mage, an Almighty. Then we return to Mikdemia, from maritime adventures in political adventures for the future of the kingdom.
Calmer than the first album, this second volume takes us to the heart of two hostile societies. It is certainly sometimes a bit exaggerated, but the author has us a dense story, where all the codes of the genre are respected. We may regret the deus ex machina side Macros black (but it is a gandalfien code) and I hope to find explanations for this character in subsequent volumes.
Happy end, naive romantic relationships, but a powerful story, very nice to read. A fantasy certainly old but deserves its place in the fantasy work list to read.
