This passive HDMI repeater from cables directly used by me to my Sony camcorder with a built-in mini-HDMI port with my Onkyo receiver front entrance to connect.
So far me the way too short mini-HDMI to HDMI cable has very disturbed of Sony, because I had to literally kneel before the receiver to play movies my camcorder. With the length of 2 meters one is just very limited.
If you then look around for a longer cable you quickly realize that these are very expensive with 10 meters and is thus also meets the technical limit of the HDMI specifications.
Since such provides a repeater to downright to link existing or low to be acquired shorter cable.
By means of this repeater now I could use three different HDMI cable as an extension. A 5-meter no-name flat cable, a 5 meters Clicktronic cable and a 10 meter cable Direct HDMI cable from the Pro Series.
With all I could extend the existing cable problems. There were no differences from the previous view of the image or the sound determine.
The connection of my beamer with the 5 meter Clicktronic cable and the 10-meter Pro Series cables from cable Direct worked perfectly. This is remarkable because the latest with the then present length of 15 meters but I have far exceeded the HDMI standard.
Although the repeater "just" passively working (ie it receives the necessary power for the signal amplification via the HDMI source and thus the connected cables) he has also mastered this task perfectly.
The absolute emergency unfortunately I could not test, that is I've never had a HDMI route that has long caused led to problems such as dropped frames, artifacts or disconnections.
But I think that with the help of this handy repeater also distances of at least 30 meters (similar cable lengths provided, of course) are possible.
What I have noticed?
The HDMI 1.4a standard, so not all of the very latest 2.0 standard. Since the potential clientele but probably composed mainly of people with problems with their current equipment I do not see this as a disadvantage. For HDMI 2.0 is simply spread too little.
The In and Out directions must be followed, of course. I had the projector only problem until I realized that the cables were connected the wrong way round. So "in" for the cable from the source and "Out" for the cable to the customer.
All in all, I recommend this HDMI Repeater to 100%. From me clear 5 Stars!
