Of course, I was well aware that the author addressed a very different style of the Harry Potter saga. So I started my reading with no particular apprehension. Page by page, I try to be interested in history. However, this reading was too long! If the story turns goshawks of the death of a notable of the city where many pulls Instead, I will, but first 150 pages on the excitement created this death with locals, no. Then follows until the end of the novel small squabbles between families to designate the one who will access the city council seat left by Barry Fairbrother ... Again, I am not transported. And it's not worth trying, I really wanted a chance to leave this book! To me, the story is too "flat", conflicts concerning the accession to the Council could have been much more advanced in terms of craze that seems to provide the seat.
If I finally persisted is that it still exists in this positive reading. First, if the story did not convince me, the writing of JK Rowling always demonstrated a real talent. I appreciated the details provided concerning each of the very different families. The characters that have captivated me the most are the children, who are each in their own way affected by the fervor of their parents regarding the administration of their town. We find there a moral to me that there should also be a little further. It is clear that without the history of its adolescents, including Fats, Krystal, and Sukhvinder, I may be abandoned my reading. What also helped me to "hold", it's probably thanks to the choice of the author to pass the point of view of a character to another fairly quickly, the chapters are very short and we avoid burnout too fast.
So I was pretty disappointed in this generally novel.
