I admit I was deeply shocked by this story. In fact I still am ... The fact that this tale is told by "Death" is not for me the main attraction of this book. The characters and their fate so severe and yet so human remains part by far the best of this beautiful book, so well written and so captivating. After having wept like a Magdalen in the first chapters (OK I may be hyper-sensitive about this is the fate of children), I am passionate for the fate of Liesel, granddaughter catapulted into the cruel and absurd events the second world war. Through its history, we discover behind the decor, that of all those Germans caught in the madness hithlerienne but have hardly a choice as to the conduct to hold the terror that surrounds mental brainwashing operates by the Nazis ... but also everything that life is beautiful even in the hardest moments. This is a book that reads in breath, praying (or fingers crossed, it is you who make secure) so that nothing bad happens to his heroine ... but Death is in charge of giving us clues about the fate of these characters. A real gem that I had bought from all those who share my taste for good reading, the one we changee spring.
