When Dr. Vittorio Puig goes home, the door and the window of the apartment are wide open. No trace of his wife. Suddenly, in the street, a screech. Vittorio looks and discovers. The beautiful Lisandra. As a dislocated puppet five floors below. In 1987, Argentina, democracy is back for four years. Many torturers of the Junta have turned to the police. So when he was arrested for the murder of his wife, Vittorio he has little hope of escape. Eva-Maria, one of his patients, itself struggling with alcohol and nightmares due to the disappearance of his beloved daughter, yet decides to help him. It was then that horrible demons will emerge from the night. Built as a detective story, this very complex novel explores the recesses of the human soul. Everyone under the appearance he wants to show well, sometimes conceals shameful secrets. On a happy time to be born with terrible consequences. When we believe the affair ended, one realizes that there is a difference between the verdict of justice and truth that will never be known (but the reader will discover with chills). An external narrator tells the story but, at times, Vittorio is speaking to us. The pages of Eva-Maria book are reproduced, the rise of an endless stairs is synchronized with the mind of the person who climbed the analyzes of the sessions of some patients are transcribed as dramatic dialogues. Many other processes, often surprising, are used. They enrich the novel and surprising the reader. When at last we understand the title, it receives like a big punch in the plexus that leaves KO. I loved this book bothers, upsets and puts uncomfortable. We do not come out unscathed. It is a reading that I will not forget.
