the glass of symphonic works have a more intimate tone from the rest of his work. It does not seek to make great orchestral effects and it has a totally different style compared to his music to a whole. Here, the violin concerto is a marvel; three movements: fast, slow, fast. It seems to emanate an ethereal beauty and a retained lyricism, very particularly in the second movement. The strings weave a constant and serious rhythm, quickly joined by the brass. A black and dense atmosphere is created (without becoming cumbersome) and suddenly pierces the violin in the treble as an arc of blue light in the dark réminescences of the orchestra, a sensitive and delicate stream moving above a Sea discrete darkness. Company is in the same vein as the metamorphoses, by color, and in the sense that they are varitions with virtually the same musical material (for those who know the version of the Kronos Quartet they will find more than just noise). However the two extracts Akhnaten are bad. The prelude is ... flange, a well-blade performance compared to that of Davies. Dance, it is interesting but the strings drown the dynamics of the song. But the concerto buys a hundredfold displeasure.
