A thoroughly good album!

When I normally think of hymns, so I hear in my mind's ear a ample oblique singing congregation, which is at least half a clock with the organ apart ... I associate almost exclusively gray-fated memories so ;-)
In this respect, I initially could not really imagine what awaits me me - unfortunately I've never really heard these songs in my life "in beautiful".
But the new album from Jay Alexander surprised me the most pleasant: you realize what actually is in these songs of musical substance, if one has even heard so. Wonderful orchestral arrangements, modernize the old chorales gently, without slipping into kitschy crossover. And as the beautiful sounding and well-run Voice of Jay Alexander, who interprets the songs with an impressive emotional depth. The man knows his (oral) tools, and that he really deeply feel this music, you can hear that and you can feel in every moment. And to mention particularly positive is the excellent articulation, but never at the expense of sound - most opera singers can either "beautiful" or "significantly", Jay Alexander is one of the few in which the two go together - a great compliment!
Also receiving technically the disc is a delight. I would recommend it therefore each, the lovers of church music as well as to those who so maybe can start less, because then he might have a different picture of it.
