The latter (surprise) seems to me so important that it makes difficult the role of commentator who must take care not to give dindices that could mitigate the effects of surprise. That is why, regarding the plot, I will content should indicate what is based (very schematically) on the opposition between rich family lile Doland and ruined peasant of that island who emigrated to the "new country" which the action is place on this island, which is native author, and the short summer season but with some flashbacks to illuminate the history of lémigrant.
On the literary level i liked the way the author has managed to describe his island without harming the suspense. I also accurate for discerning readers, including myself, Quà the end of the novel the various mysteries are solved.
But I do not believe that either Johan Theorin (yet?) At the best writers of crime fiction, for example, who could describe Simenon atmosphere while remaining credible. On this point I refer specifically to Gerlof, a central character who plays amateur detective, retired from the Navy, 85 years old, and whose capabilities exceed those danalyse seem Commissioner Mégret and dHercule Poirot! However this defect does not appear to me to spoil the fun of reading.
