Tomorrow Is My Turn (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The lead singer of the Carolina Chocolate Drops with her solo debut. Rhiannon Giddens might be some known from The Hunger Games soundtrack. There you had with Daughter`s Lament an elegy to an ancient Anglo-Celtic melody listen up. Yet gained a lot when you put promotional concert Another Day / Another Time for the film Inside Llewyn Davis. With Waterboy, Didn`t Leave Nobody But The Baby and `S Iomadh Rud Tha Dith Orm She stole Joan Baez and Patti Smith show.

Tomorrow Is My Turn was produced by T Bone Burnett and includes cover songs that were originally sung by Nina Simone, Dolly Parton, Geeshie Wiley, Patsy Cline, Elizabeth Cotten etc.. The style ranges from blues, soul, country, gospel to folk. Not only Giddens classical training but also your great voice is very clear. Very encouraging is not only the excellent dynamics of the CD but also the very fine quality of the recording.

I find every song very well done. But the compilation is personal to me wild. When hip-hop beat of Black Is The Color, mixed with a harmonica, it was for me a bit too much. For me missing at the CD a line or a topic. At times my voice seems too much to aim at the perfect tone. I would have preferred a little more power, feeling and courage. Because my songs but considered individually all liked to very good, it remains at five stars. The voice and the sound of the CD would be for me more about it.
