Scope of supply:
The Acer H9505BD was sent in the original packaging, without carton. This makes unless, as the projector is in the packaging is very well protected by bubble and foam. Positive is immediately apparent that in this model a high quality carrying bag is that makes a stable and high-quality impression. They must also, finally, the Acer weighs H9505BD in my bathroom scale 7.1 kg. It's like getting a remote control (including batteries, as I wrote in another model, like leak and should be replaced with brand batteries), a power cable, a VGA cable, a little paperwork and 3D glasses including voreingesetzter button cell. An HDMI cable there are not, but would be prior art.
First impression and installation:
Wow, the Acer H9505BD is really a stunner Grumpy! Large and heavy, but he makes a strong impression. Lens shift is here on board, which set up the projection a little relieved, the shift only to a certain extent is possible. Adjustable height of the Acer H9505BD is not, there are only two front folding feet that are already often collapsed accidentally with me again in the prior operation on the table.
Of connections you have not saved anything because what you need: VGA (also for looping through), S-Video, Component, HDMI three times, audio in and out, USB and LAN. Here again there is a trigger for controlling motorized screens.
I hung the projector via HDMI to the computer, turned on, image adjustment. What struck me immediately? The zoom is bigger than my old Acer, here it goes to 1.5. So I'm already at about 2.90 m distance from the screen an image with 2.0 m by 1.13 m (the other Acer am I about 3.5 m away to reach this size).
Speaker:
These are good even something: D. For most projectors, the speakers are only suitable for system sounds, which also submit to the Acer H9505BD to watch the news or a movie clip.
Volume:
In a bulky projector I expect an efficient cooling. Since the luminous flux of 3000 lumens is in the middle and the resolution is full HD (and no still 4K), anyway. Really quiet, he is not, the Acer. In Eco mode, it looks like getting better. Well, in a meeting room and then for ceiling mounting the volume is secondary. At home when watching movies, I do not want the projector (or rather, its fans) drowns quiet passages.
Remote Control:
Unfortunately it has no laser pointer, but an illumination. The is however undercooked, because not all the remote control is illuminated. Please, whoever thinks like that? Either all or nothing. Should the rest of the key rates? In addition, the key assignment in comparison to other Acer devices of this kind have failed. You have to try really, what the keys where as make (eg in the menu).
Menu:
Acer-typical you can handle it after a short. I have personally after the device is not always change what because not even then changes the input source (use in the meantime a simple HDMI switcher). In addition, I already know the menu of my other Acer.
Picture:
Sharp and large the picture, yes. So the projection (no distortion, etc.) fits, the sharpness is good and the brightness distribution is fine. The colors go into my eyes (color temperature, not a strong red / blue / green tint) also clear. However, the contrast is really bad. Black ends in a rather gray. That I know of Acer better (or one would expect from such a model simply more?). For home cinema enthusiasts and professionals there to a good section in Prad.
The dreaded RBE (rainbow effect) I do not see here at Acer H9505BD, this was in older DLP models much more pronounced and I take the RBE was probably when he is present (image Blitzer in rainbow colors when you move your head).
3D:
This time, a pair of glasses is, unfortunately I can not test the 3D effect for lack setter - and I am unfortunately stereo blind (I have also noted only in 3D cinema).
My Conclusion:
The Acer H9505BD in itself is a good projector with weaknesses in detail and unfortunately the contrast. Many aspects which I have criticized in other projectors (lack of lens shift, connectivity, trigger) were taken into account here, however, the assessment stands and is now falling again with the image. However, it depends on the application. At meetings of the black level and the contrast is certainly not as important (if only PowerPoint runs) as films or graphics applications. The brightness can convince me, and it of course depends on the projection distance. In just 3 m distance the image is really big, sharp and bright enough. At 9 m the course makes less fun, where should the necessary "More Light", if you have 3000 lumens? Overall, I find the Acer H9505BD good, you should continue to work on the "little things", for example, even at the height adjustment and remote control. Good is good, four stars. That's all I see. I particularly like, however, that the shut-off in 1 to 2 seconds works without fan run. The Acer P51xx like to run after several minutes.
