Here in brief the main findings:
Packing: simple but functional, all necessary items are packed solid, the notebook itself is enclosed in a plastic casing of black felt. Styrofoam at key points to prevent damage in transit.
First impression: Contrary to my "Mitbewerter" I feel the design and external appearance of the Z50-70 extremely tasteful. Everything is very tidy, the design is kept simple and very smooth. The notebook itself is pleasantly flat, has all the buttons in the right place and the display can be opened easily and adjust. Only the NOVO key is an accident something without pen or other pointed object, the Startup in the boot screen to adventure.
Performance: For Windows installation and activation mainly I'll be still. In general, the performance for this price is higher than average. Only the Intel HD graphics and the mediocre disk pull the overall average down. Processor and dedicated Nvidia GPU (840M) press tidy up a gear. Anyone toying with this unit should be downloaded from the Lenovo support site PRELIMINARY drivers for Windows 7. For Windows 8.1, these are supplied on CD. The entire installation of all relevant software was completed after about 2 hours, the boot process is finished with me for about 25 seconds which is for 399, - very decent. In the current games the 840M shows its muscles, with some adjustments to the details is possible in 1080p smooth gameplay. The fans are very quiet and barely audible in normal operation, the sound through the speakers is not groundbreaking but quite OK. Here would be 5 star more than appropriate ... was not there ....
The catch: Those like me who primarily buys his notebook for the office and working with an Enterprise version of Win7 and this would enable the has a huge problem. The Z50-70 has in the version without pre-installed OS that is no corresponding Windows marker in the SLIC table BIOS. And without this marker is activated using KMS simply impossible - at least if you like I want to do without corresponding hacks. An update is not (yet) provided. Who be Windows is activated via a normal individual license does not have this problem - myself is this lack, however, worth a star deduction and I would also warn in advance if someone with similar conditions as I worked. With kindly now found a MAK license available ... not everyone expected so this lucky Caution!
1. Update
After a month in operation, the notebook still runs smoothly - the fan is very quiet and the battery lasts for 3 hours at 80% backlight, I have more in the price but not even expected. The wireless still works smoothly - one small fly in the ointment: The USB 3.0 controller does not seem to be the flotteste on my main computer I reach the same sticks much better data rate.
Overall, I am inclined, however, at the moment a good piece even upgrade to 5 star - let's see if it still runs smoothly after 3 months.
