This novel is the first of which was published CRZafon. Cétait in 1992.
It really is not like the future books as "The shadow of the Wind" and "The lAnge Game" which I read before this one. Zafon sadresser here wants to youth and actually we are dealing with a fantasy novel that could be considered a bit like Harry Potter precursor in terms of ambiance.
Although written in a simple style, this novel contains all the ingredients to appeal to a public dadolescents with the mystery and the supernatural, omnipresent mist and three young people who would like to understand why the statues move the cemetery at night.
The action is set in 1943 on the English coast, on the edge of a village where the Carver family sinstalle in an uninhabited house for ages. Not far away stands a lighthouse that has a history that is not unrelated to this house and the wreckage of lOrpheus lying a few fathoms of water at the foot of the lighthouse.
Poetry, fantasy and action are waiting for you in this tale to bring us into a strange world with Max, Alicia and Roland. Not to mention the lighthouse keeper andthe Prince of Mist.
