With the current model (serial number begins with 608 ... to) I can not complain (previously 606 ...) me.
After a few weddings and concerts that I was allowed to photograph, I am completely thrilled and can only agree with the positive reviews.
My zoom lenses, the Nikon 24-70 and the 70-200 2.8 2.8 had to be adjusted by AF fine adjustment.
Likewise, the NIKON 50mm 1.4. All other lenses I own focus without correction at the D800 properly.
At my D3 I have now also corrects these lenses. Earlier me this is not really noticed, as I always used to focus the central cross-type sensors and the results were OK.
But nothing compared to now.
The D800 shows this lens error really merciless.
Here, the correction values of these lenses on the D800:
(Perhaps this is indeed useful for someone)
Nikon AF-S 50mm F1.4 -17
Nikon AF-S 85mm F1.4 -8
Nikon AF-S 60mm F2.8 0
Nikon AF-S 105mm F2.8 -8
Nikon AF-S 24-70mm F2.8 -15
Nikon AF-S 70-200mm F2.8 -8
Tokina AT-X 16-28mm F2.8 0
From the Operation view, it is for NIKON photographers nothing really new, you can quickly become accustomed.
The image quality is outstanding for my taste. Also, the camera is also very suitable for Lowlightaufnahmen what is so often criticized.
In a pinch, you scale the images down to 22MP or 12MP example. Then you get shots that are after better by the ISO noise than that of my D3.
The improved autofocus module contributes also contributes nicely.
Addendum:
The correction values I have updated.
Currently these are my settings on the D800.
The focal areas are actually somewhat larger than for example on the D3, when shooting with "open aperture" should make sure exactly where the camera focuses.
In Live View mode, this is problematic since the focus area turns out considerably smaller.
