The air purifier in use
Because I have a strong pollen allergy and asthma, such a device is a great invention for me. The setting up of the air cleaner, and the insertion of the filter easily get out of hand. The operation of the Philips air cleaner is largely self-explanatory, but it is advisable to read the manual carefully, since still some information is also given.
The different modes
I usually run the unit in automatic mode. In automatic mode, the built-in air quality sensor continuously measures the air quality of the room and automatically selects the appropriate speed setting to guarantee the best possible air quality in the room. He Represents changes or pollutants in ambient air, it will automatically and independently controls the air purification. It recognizes the degree of contamination and controls as needed performance high so that at any time clean air is guaranteed. For me, the indicator of air quality and thus the stage of purification, especially with the windows open (pollen) and in emerging smells have changed (cooking, visits) in automatic mode.

Very positive I feel the night mode. In automatic mode, the device switches in a darkened room for about 3 minutes in the night mode. Specifically, this means that the device switches to a lower speed stage, the light signals deactivated (except the Operation Ring) and the fan speed (and therefore the power consumption) is reduced. After some time, the air purifier then switches to power-saving mode = standby mode and switches itself back on when the air has a lower quality. Nevertheless, the automatic control system is also in night mode remains active, ie when the coast is clear, provides the air fresheners an operation and when the air is bad again, the device is activated at a low speed, but turned off the displays.
Once the room longer than 5 minutes is bright again, the air freshener resumes its normal operation. Seen from the point of the volume level, you can place the unit in my opinion without reservation in each bedroom.
In addition to the automatic mode can be switched to manual operation; the fan speed can be adjusted manually. In manual mode, the air purifier can also filter gases, which is not possible in automatic mode. However, I use mainly the automatic mode, because then the air quality is controlled fully automatically.
Individual options
On the positive side for me as allergies, that the sensitivity of the air quality sensor can be changed. Here you can choose between 3 levels: Standard, delicate and particularly sensitive. For example, if the sensitivity is set to level 3, the air cleaner starts already at a significantly lower pollution degree than in Level 1 standard.
On a positive note also that the color display off separately but I leave that is always on, so I get a picture of the air quality and also about myself happy if the illuminated ring lights up blue.
As for optimization would call in my eyes a remote control. So I have to run to the device every time I want to change the settings for me not so important, since I mostly use the automatic mode, but possibly important for other people.
Volume
In automatic mode, the fan speed varies; that is, the faster and stronger the air is circulated for cleaning, the louder the unit is (like a fan). At the highest level, this is a bit noisy. I would recommend the Philips air purifier therefore not persons who are very sensitive to noise. I personally do not mind the volume, especially since the air purifier so ensuring that it changes as soon as possible in a lower cleaning level and therefore in a weaker acoustics. ;-)
Filter
The filter I had not yet been exchanged, but the removal or insertion of the filter is simple and quick (I remember the structure). Most one forgets but in everyday life that filters must be replaced periodically. Change is why I find the automatic display filter Please very user-friendly.
However, as the only disadvantage I feel the price (MSRP 499 €) and the need for a new filter (70 Euro) for quality assurance approximately every 3 years.
Effect
I am pleasantly surprised - me personally help the Philips air cleaner, better to live with my allergies and my asthma, as I have less complaints as irritated and watery eyes and a stuffy nose. Also, I can breathe free, so the air cleaner is recommended in my eyes especially for allergy sufferers.
A positive side effect: I have to wipe from the use of the Philips air cleaner less congestion. ;-)
Conclusion
Generally I can say that the air purifier super suitable especially for me as allergies. A noticeable improvement in the general air quality but I have not consciously noticed (I'm also Non smoking and airs regularly through my apartment).
Due to the positive effect of the Philips air cleaner on my allergies and my asthma, I am very glad to be part of the consumer Goddesses test and will continue to use the air purifier.
