43772 Verbatim Blu-ray BD-R LTH single-scratch layer 25GB 6x 25 Pack (Accessory)

Customer Review

These BD-R are reliable ... for a while ... but I learned on the internet.

Unlike other brands, Verbatim to create its own die (*) [LTH] to the BD-R it is derived from the DVD-R die (the other (major) brands use an alloy (not synthetic) much more reliable resistant but more expensive to manufacture).

Bilan, a very limited life span similar to that of a DVD-R (recordable DVD 1x) or less in some cases [life 4 years or less).

You want to keep your data for longer without risk to lose them ... do not use that media. Use BD-R brands (Sony or Panasonic [life of 50 years or more] that they use a die alloy and not synthetic).

Want engraved bd-r quickly for fast and whose limited life do not mind ... they are cheap and of acceptable quality (given the price).

But they are not made to store precious photos of hyper-grandmother unless clamse within 5 years ... lol.

Beware the verbatim die can also be found in other brands (some BD-R Phillips; some TDK BD-R, ...). So ask before buying to find out what is the nature of the die used. Sony & Panasonic do not use (so far) is system. TDK / Phillips, depending on the BD-R models. This system is cheaper (but less reliable and a much reduced life span [10 to 20 x less] ... lots of white goods brands also use it.

The advantage of "Sony" ... protection of the etched surface more efficient thanks an owner and a very good lifetime system.

The advantage of the "Panasonic" ... an excellent shelf life (best) [GOLD 100 years] ... to very good [50] (depending on model).

Attention prefer a remark ... BD-R 25 (25 gigabytes) and NON BD-R 50 [DL] (50 gigabytes) or more ... for increasing the number of layer (BD-R 25 = 1 layer, BD-R 50 = 2 layers, ...) also corresponds to divide the life of the medium 4-8 ... Therefore, a BD-R 25 has a life span 4 to 8 times longer than a BD -R 50 although the BD-R can contain 2 times more data.

(*) The die (heart) is the colored surface covered with a plastic layer and which will be "burned" by the laser to burn the data.

First, it is very difficult to find real test and information because manufacturers protect their own brand and many brand delegate to others the manufacture of any part of that which they sell under their own brand.

The information found is based on a regular basis (and not episodic) ... if you burn your DVDr or BDR single speed, you protect it from light and only remove it in order to use that once where two on the year ... you are great to keep longer. Anyway, LTH technology is derived from the DVD-R to simple story costs and not reliable (so wants you to believe).
