[Read in English.] Before reading it, I thought this book would be a personal account as The Green Hills of Africa. I thought Hemingway would tell in the first person one or travels in Spain increased to attend various bullfights. In fact, it is rather a work in which the author described its French public what bullfighting (its development, its methods, its star, etc.). The title, Death in the afternoon, is relevant because this activity almost always results in death of the bull, often that of horses and sometimes even that of the toreador.
Clearly love Hemingway bullfighting and therefore I did not bored by reading his book. Nevertheless, I would recommend Death in the afternoon especially to readers who already love this author and who are curious to learn how bullfighting is practiced in the 20s and 30s.
