Fritz Brown, private investigator, classical music fan, not hesitating to distribute shots of all kinds. The first Ellroy is excellent. It reads quickly. A good story well put together. We walk into the world of caddies and golf, we cross a crazy fan of a cello, a crooked cop, ... in short, all the ingredients for a good hardboiled. The LA slang ("horse cunt", "horseshitting", ....) adds the touch that gives the book its unique style. Ellroy is a master. In a register at least equal to that Ellroy, I recommend James Crumley.
