I've been looking for a pair of pants for my hike in the summer in Northern Sweden. Since one has to wade through rivers here often and I doing "zipped off" the hare and wants with shorts and other running shoes by the river, I have made myself to the search for a zip-off trekking trousers. These are available a dime a dozen, but have a disadvantage: They are very thin because usually designed for the summer. Because it can sometimes go in the direction of altitudes in summer zero degrees in Lapland, I was looking for a more robust / thicker pants with Abzipp function. Finally, I've found the Vaude Gaiter Rokua and FjällRäven Keb Gaiter. The Keb Gaiter makes a slightly more robust impression, but only where G1000 is processed. Large parts of the trousers are made of a simple stretch fabric (to not wear points), which I, in turn, appeared very thin and therefore little warm. The decisive factor was the end but that Keb Gaiter has no zipper on the side and you therefore each must go to take off their shoes when the trousers to be shortened to shorts. (In warm weather) In addition, you can not carry in my eyes the lower parts as Gamaschenersatz because they are far too long just to the top. Shake up the "knees" leads to significant rubbing while running. This is better resolved in Vaude. It consists of 3 parts (Keb 2) so that the knees can be completely removed. (Even without taking off the shoes.) Why not 5 stars? 1. The upper elastic should hold the spats over his calves. He does not because he is too deeply placed (exactly on the calves) and the lower jaw slides when it is worn separately. 2. The upper and lower elastic band are connected and the entire elastic runs outside the pants behind a hook. Better would be above and below separately and if necessary the drawn piece of rubber behind Velcro. If both elastics are tightly drawn you already quite a Gefriemel with long elastic. 3. The side pockets on the leg inside have only mesh lining, which does not work very reassuring. Must be so, because in his pockets a zip sits, which can be opened for ventilation. This has solved the better Keb. Because the zipper sits next to the bag. Anyway, I'll grab anything important in the leg pocket ;-)
Nevertheless, the Vaude is a better choice for me, also because the federal government can be adjusted by velcro in width. Therefore I keep the Vaude and hope that the substance is actually so wind and water resistant and quick-drying, as announced by the manufacturer.
