But that can not be the claim.
For well under 50 euros, the battery grip is perfectly adequate. I just needed a "handle" for photo shoots where I mostly take pictures in portrait mode and to need a little more battery life (yes purely fit 2 batteries).
I do not know whether the A77 (ii) thus would still be weatherproof. I do not trust it this battery grip not to, but do not expect that too.
Positives: The battery grip fits like a glove to the A77 (i). Even more positive, he also adjusts the a77ii. It should be clear, because it is the same Body. But you never know the yes so exactly at Sony and their model policy. I've just tried and the camera (a77ii) turned on. The functionality is provided here as well. The remaining battery indicator works. Smell I have not noticed (in some cheap products smell the plastic even after weeks of perspiration still)
Negatives: The trigger is a bit spongy compared to the camera triggers. But the feeling is still very good.
With me creaks and crunches times nix. But I'm not the guy who handles his camera by Schraubzwingengriff, I usually have the camera (without battery grip) still secured with an additional hand strap. When the camera + battery grip - combination, it is so that the loop is no longer practical. But this is of course not the fault of the battery grip and should only times are an indication that a wrist fixation is more of a hindrance.
Of course, the grip feels a bit plastic and bounds (Hey, this thing will cost 1/3 to 1/4 from the original handle). The tripod mounting hole below the handle looks not necessarily reassuring to me. I think I'll rather not install the camera incl. Handle on a tripod.
All in all - I would recommend the handle if you occasionally need a battery grip. As a replacement for the original handle without looking at the price I would not see this product.
