A week heat-up / break-in period, I have indulged in the device, even if it probably will not matter much, or nothing.
I suspect that the major effect of the Listen-(listeners accustomed to the sound) comes.
Test setup:
[A] The SB3 this digitally connected via RCA (gold wire) to the VDACII per stereo RCA to the amplifier
[B] The SB3 connected directly via stereo RCA to the amplifier
The amplifier is a Cambridge Audio 840A V2, volume level / tone can be adjusted via an input.
My 10 test pieces heard between A / B switch. Hmmm, when one of the pieces of works VDAC hmmm presenter.
I had the impression of VDAC is a little louder, the difference is possibly only a level increase by one dB?
Input A lowered to -1 dB, again A / B comparison and hmm the tone is slightly different. For Input B a bit bass turned up, as well as the highs.
Renewed A / B comparison -> Umschalthelfer added fetched -> A / B test with a second person who switches between A / B and I close my eyes while listening.
Result: now I can no longer assign whether Sb 3 plays + VDACII or SB3 final stage.
When VDAC I'd sometimes a bit bass and treble a bit rausdrehen; Not much.
I would say that VDACII is no worse than the converter + preamplifier included in the SB3,
but also no improvement to SB3 directly. Depending on personal tastes and Hifikette can the slight overemphasis on the bass nerves, but is correctable.
New strategy: SB3 exchange and compare against a SB Touch.
My SB3 hanging on a stabilized DC power supply, the original China mains plug was eventually failed. Speaker cables were Eagle Calypso II.
