Eric-Emmanuel had the excellent idea to surprise us for his first books ... For me, this is no longer the case ... This collection of four new me unfortunately seemed terribly bland. Four stories with some big strings, connected by a common project (as he himself explains in his "writing paper"). The theme of redemption, freedom of everyone, the influence that our actions can have on our lives ... The idea is attractive, the writing is not. From the first news, I shall mention only these words: "sacrifice is the measure of all love" ... The second, and the best in my opinion, from an ordinary situation lead us into a fairly deep reflection on family ties, our way of showing the love we feel for his family and how sometimes jostled by an event, the core values we are obvious when we had forgotten them ... A phrase to remember? "Open the Bible, it is not read is thinking." For the third, nothing seemed unusual, it "flows" of shots and good feelings ... For the fourth story, I copied two sentences: "It is with destinies as sacred books: it is the reading that gives them meaning"; "The closed book is silent; he will speak only when it is opened, and the language they employ will be that one that it looks, colored by his expectations, his desires, his aspirations, his obsessions, his violence and its disorders. "
These are followed by four new "Journal Writing" written by the author and accompanied the birth and creation of this novel. Dare I write that my favorite is the four new newspaper? I enjoyed seeing the progress and the writer's thoughts. How the characters are binding on him. In what way writing can be isolated, how events can influence its choice of writing etc ...
Overall, this book disappointed me ... read very fast, not very "consisting" and nothing that keeps going. Fortunately the "Journal Writing" was there ....
