I have been waiting for the 920XT very mainly in the hope of improved connectivity (BT, Wi-Fi) and the independence of the data transfer from the PC. One has, due to the development of Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect Mobile saw that it goes in this direction.
I am by the short time that I now the 920XT is not a definitive assessment of the clock from my personal point of view used to be able to deliver. I'm writing the review but already to other buyers to avoid the disappointment I experienced:
Namely, it is able to eliminate the Garmin adjustability barometric altimeter completely to the air pressure! Incredible! It has thus held an altimeter, a barometer which any course almost always wrong height values indicating!
What did you feel at ease thinking? How can a device only verschlimmbessern so? But I contacted Garmin still no answer. I posted the problem in Garmin 920XT forum in a thread Requirement.
I do not want to give back the 920XT in the hope that Garmin mended this incredible mistake. (Have you not bought at Amazon as would be easier). She is not even in all respects better than the 910XT with other functions but I am quite excited by the still short use:
+ The super connectivity and ease of data transfer
+ A significantly improved battery performance
+ Although simple but quite nice smart phone similar functions
+ Keys are larger and better serve
+ The clock can now date and day and along with long battery life considerably for everyday use
- / + If the color display's really brings I doubt it
- / + Fitness functions ... Well ...
I hope now that Garmin makes the HM usable. Everyone has to decide how important it is in any case certain features, generally you expect but probably rightly that listed in the prospectuses functions are perfectly usable! I am now looking forward to the response of Garmin and I hope very much that you can do something as quickly!
If I'm already at Garmin wishes: It would also be nice if you could just use in GC and GCM hiking maps (eg compass) the existing cards are useless for mountain activities.
One should not misunderstand my rating. Basically, the 920XT is safe as even the 910XT excellent sports watch. Other bugs I've seen nothing.
(Cynical remarks I myself away!)
Update 12.2.15
Got the link to download the beta FW 2.64 of Garmin.
The altimeter display will be corrected by the GPS. I test for a few days and it seems to work surprisingly well in my previous attempts. Once GPS is active, the display jumps to +/- 20m to the correct value and approaches this after 1-2 'to approximately +/- 3m on. You may also see the use of Glonass satellites contributes positively to accuracy.
Otherwise I can say due to the short time not much new to 920XT, but I found no other bugs.
Did the assessment of 1 star changed to 4 stars.
Here is the link to the 2.64:
