This beautiful book, huge (over 450 pages), is magic! More than 700 photos, shown through 350 "Photo couples" who place opposite the streets of Paris in the 1860s and the same today, taken from the same place. It is both beautiful and disturbing. Before our eyes register the transformations carried out by Haussmann first and then by the other councilors who led Paris over the last 150 years. I loved the beautiful previous book Patrice Moncan that showed "the Paris of Haussmann time," but it still exceeds by this mirror game between past and present. A superb Christmas gift, and much more, for lovers of Paris, and in general, all lovers of cities and history.
