I bought this amp, as my other two amplifiers (A 20-year-old Yamaha and even an old Grundig) have adopted in the course of a week and a repair would not have been worthwhile. So I needed a new amplifier for my LS (Magnat monitor Supreme 200). This should not be too expensive but still sufficient for higher room volume.
After I had the many mini amps first labeled as useless when searching I then became aware of yet by the many positive reviews on the SMSL Sa-50. After some research on the internet I was amazed at the accolades reaped the this small amplifier. Because I thought that you can not go far wrong, I then unceremoniously ordered him as the big brother Sa-98, because I was worried about the "only" 50 watts of power. After I unpacked it fell to me first the strikingly good workmanship, which I had not expected.
Dressed Well connected (pay attention to correct polarity) and music from the PC soundcard. Wow! I have to say what makes the amplifier on my Ls really noteworthy. I can not turn up on the 12-clock position, without me is too loud him.
The sound is clear and analytical, especially in the bass range, a significant improvement over my old amplifiers is even audible to the small bookshelf speakers, even without direct comparison. Nevertheless, no region seems overdriven or overemphasized, the sound is balanced gratifying.
For bass lovers, or people may be a problem to sit closer to one speaker the lack of equalizer / balance, which can be but if necessary supplement with a precursor with tone control.
I really have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!
Conclusion:
Processing: no defects
Sound: clear and analytical, balanced
Overall for this price has no choice but to award a 5 star!
