I think this Southern novel by cash for one of the best novels of this type, which appeared in the past two years. Mention should be made here Pollock's The Devil All the Time. These novels show very clearly the involvement of the rural population of the American bible belts in a completely strange and incomprehensible for us expression of Christian Protestant religion. Even sage priest relate to God's manifestations and are worshiped by the faithful accordingly. All action takes place in the name of the Lord and thus is no longer questioned. These novels are written in the highly colored South American and losing in the German translation fully their specific stimulus. In the 90s it was attempted z.Bsp. Transfer novels of McCarthy in a German dialect or everyday language, we came back from it, although this kind of translation the novels authenticity lent back. Therefore I can only recommend reading the original here. Cash narrative perspective alternates between three characters who portray the action from their perspective and in their own language. This not the German translation! It remains largely in the same characteristic style. It also is not a question in this a crime or thriller, although the requisite figures are available (victims, perpetrators, witnesses, police officer), but a classical narrative novel, which depicts an event, different mirrors and the reader enough room for interpretation leaves. Of course, cash refers partly clear on Cormac McCarthy. If he can tell his Sherriff, one sees involuntarily Ed Tom from No Country for Old Men in mind, but this was forgiven him because convince the characters and the action is pursued without lengths. This novel here draws the reader in the original in its spell, takes him and leaves him at the end of a loss back. Also, no need for a long blurb, the only disappointed when aman a thriller awaits! Great Literature!
