After my old car radio - with over 10 years' under their belts, "it was * really * old! - Started making "mosquitoes" (barely clean reception on FM, failure of the CD changer), had to get a new device.
Assumptions:
1) Excellent FM reception
2) CD and MP3 capability
3) Clear design
4) "Blind" operation
Especially the last point has become a real problem: Looking at the current device, one wonders instinctively what the designers were thinking? "Blind" - so with an eye to the Starße - is there hardly what: Small knobs, too close together, no fixed assignable preset buttons for radio stations, instead "by's Menu scrolling" - looks good but is not good for your car!
This affects also the Kenwood: After Becker yes - unfortunately! - Has stopped production of car radios (reportedly they build only devices for Automoblhersteller not get freely available), Kenwood has by far the best FM receiver. The reception is really good, even in critical situations, such as when multiple transmitters overlap. The playback of "canned" - ie CD and MP3 - is, from whatever source (including extrene players and USB flash drives can be connected at the front) fine. Acoustic I have therefore no hesitation to forgive the Kenwood 5 Stars.
But the service! As I said, far from being blind to use, the Kenwood is always good for a surprise. which makes the - otherwise excellent - assessment ultimately destroyed. With larger controls and fixed station keys may not be "stylish", but functional - and the design has kindly submit to the function!
It is lacking here, but also in the other current devices. Ultimately, I keep the device therefore (albeit with long teeth) - and because of the really good FM receiver.
Overall, only 3 stars are after all but possible.
