This is a historical romance that changes what I usually read. Already this is happening early twentieth century and the heroes are quite specific. Louisa is a young independent woman, very talkative and sure of herself. As for Charles, is a former soldier tormented by his past and alcoholic when we met the first time. All in all, I have taken great pleasure to read the same story so at first, I must admit that I have been somewhat destabilized by the context and characters. However, in the end this is more than refreshing with very engaging and realistic enough heroes. Here we have not to do with a poor young street girl and a noble aristocrat dismal past but a rich heiress, commoner of his condition and of a soldier recovering alcoholic who can handle his problems Quà Gin shots. Between romance and deception, will be grafted in progress, almost worthy of Agatha Christie investigation. I have to admit I had a good time with this first volume that changes the usual kind. I look on to see where the author will take us.
