Hayek destined to the general public this pamphlet, written in 1943 during his exile in London. It is therefore one of his books more affordable. The importance of the work of Hayek, especially in "The Road to Serfdom," can not be overestimated. This is first of all a clear analysis of totalitarianism ravaging Europe at that time. Then it goes against the current climate of massive socialist (national or not ...) of those years. (Almost) alone against all, Hayek defends the individual against collectivism, the rule of law against the all-powerful executive and the market against the plan. Articles about the order of non-centralized systems or misleading application of concepts from physical sciencs humanities are classic. It does also not merely theorize the return of liberalism, but will also engage in its organization. This book is essential for anyone who wants to understand what liberalism today, if only to know what she fight.
