Delaney Park, nicknamed Lane lives in the west, although safe with his father. She has no idea what is happening behind the huge wall. The day she stopped by the control agency against bio-health risks, Lane discovers that his father, so-called art dealer, is actually a recovery that is a man in charge to visit the contaminated area to find the objects. A trade ban, which could cost him his life if the market refuses Lane offered to him: get to turn on the other side of the wall and find a precious object to the director of the agency. Lane tracking self-defense course, but it is anything but a survivor. It is a simple girl who loves animals and who never left her.
Lane will be alone and defenseless. His goal? Find his father. The problem? Because she knows nothing of the wild area. Arriving there, she will first panic and then remember the stories told by his father when she was little. Tales that were refer to reality, inspired by his stays in contaminated area.
The main strength of this novel is its very original and well-developed mythology. Kat Falls surprise us from page to page. It is expected the classic (mutant zombies ...) but the author preferred to create their own creatures. Lane will cross harmless creatures and other horribly dangerous: the manimaux and shifters. I can not tell you more, for you to discover by reading this story like no other!
Lane is a heroine who will evolve dramatically in a few days in contact with people in the wilderness. The teenager will give way to the survivor along with Rafe and Everson. Lane has always lived away from danger but the coasting, she will learn more about herself and what she is capable. It's a character I loved track because in addition to being courageous, she has a big heart and deeply respect every life, human or not. One feels that the author, through his heroine wants to get a message. During history, we will see a lot of hatred. Men fear of difference and those they do not understand. Unlike Rafe, Lane was not raised in this world and so, it will act differently with its inhabitants.
Rafe made me go through all the feelings. I first found cruel, selfish and arrogant then, progressively, learning his past, I understood the complexity of the character. I saw a young man who's face trials and has vowed not to suffer. I saw beyond the sarcasm, although I must admit that humor and outspoken brings a touch of lightness really nice!
Everson is somewhat smoother. The author also reveals her secrets, starting with its identity. I got attached to him because it is a human right, just and intelligent. Unlike Lane, he keeps his cool in all circumstances and places the common good before his own life. Nevertheless, I preferred Rafe and his relationship with Lane, more explosive and touching too.
Actually found a love triangle but it is quite secondary. The author focuses primarily on the history, the evolution of the protagonists and of course, the universe. Although the novel is thick enough (and writing small), I found it rich in action. Kat Falls alternates twists and emotions. She does not hesitate to break the heart us by reminding us that the wilderness is all about survival and life hangs by a thread. His pen captivates us and the story, we briskly takes guts!
Finally, Inhuman is a special post-apocalyptic novel that stands out a detailed mythology & full of goodness to which heroin is not difficult to identify. I loved it, I want more, I want the rest!
