For those who want a comparison, I recommend delving into the books of Alain Thiry, "that's it, I understood" and "Learning to learn with NLP" (at least one of the two because there has numerous repetitions from one to the other), Editions de Boeck, available on the internet and in particular on Amazon: you will understand finally, thanks to these very clear and illustrated books of drawings, how to learn to learn and what mental processes are the (very simple) and personal organization rules in action when learning. The author also puts this into practice in schools that welcome and that students seem to progress so much faster. Then you leave aside the works of André Giordan: this and his book "Learn!" I vainly tried to read to the end (with a view to pass on what I have read) is even more theoretical and can not be addressed only to students of the educational sciences, which under his influence, will begin to turn to writing abstruse and useless books!
Finally, I would say fortunately, there are more books on all topics, which are written by professionals in touch with the reality on the ground and who can write "useful" and not just "scholar ". Reading such books is no longer a waste of time but a gift that one has to himself and possibly others.
