For LC Power 1340mi:
Alone the passive power supply is already worth the price.
It consists of two parts: external sets of 12V adapter available and internally (small board) a DC converter, which supplies the motherboard and hard drive from this voltage.
This combination is highly efficient and allows the power consumption will be very small:
Operate in a CoreDuo2 T2500 (Notebook CPU) with 2GB of RAM and a 2.5 "hard drive.
With onboard Wifi, the computer needs while surfing only 22-24 watts, with maximum capacity of 30 watts.
The CPU cooler is a fan, but fechelt only case fan (Scythe Mini Kaze) some fresh air - completely passive operation with me impossible.
As already described should be operated in an upright housing, so that the heat can escape.
With the base of the Small then acts really smart, no disturbing piano lacquer, but an insensitive matte black.
Ideal for a small secondary computer, a media station, a surf machine or a backup computer.
Previously, you should be sure that, if necessary, find other like-used things like front ports for USB and sound or card reader, are really not needed and expansion cards no place.
Optical drive is not possible, but this is only required for installing Win7. Everything else can safely be done via LAN / WLAN or you connect an external drive (for example via USB Slimline) today.
The components should (indeed many do not fit in) are carefully selected, the installation height of cooler is very low, about 40mm.
Ideally, even quiet and fuel-efficient SSD should be installed instead of the hard drive.
Then a truly silent operation is hardly anything in the way.
At least I was on the back out and fasten the wireless antenna.
Sure you have to overlook some processing defects, so the shaky socket at the back of the hard cover to be inserted and the fragile front desk. The ultra-bright blue LED for HDD access is unnecessary.
But the plate is remarkably stable and fortunately free of sharp edges.
What still stands out:
- The cable for LED and switch (Power / Reset) are very short, ranging with me so straight to the motherboard connectors
- The external power supply is quite large and clunky
- The 2.5 "hard drive is mounted at the top and is quite warm (50 degrees)
- 2 mounting slots for 40mm fan (if needed decides the hardware selection)
- Cornered the installation of the components is hindered by the thick and quite rigid ATX cable
About Everything But kudos to LC-Power - would buy again at any time the housing.
