My parents bought a new flat-screen TV. Unfortunately, you have my technically ignorant Oldies foisted a modest unit. This led to the following problem:
The Soundbar accepted according to instructions two connection options: 1. HDMI (ARC) or 2. HDMI plus optical audio data cable.
The TV in my parents has no HDMI (ARC) and no optical output, so there was no sound ....... therefore please check the TV the already elderly loved ones who make a present or for which you buy this soundbar.
For performance itself:
Music - I have for test purposes ft the song "Running to the Sea" by Susanne Röyskopp Sundfor played through the Bluetooth interface, as this song covers all pitches to powerful basses.. Wow! The facility is great, the sound and subwoofer is absolutely convincing for this price! 5 Stars
TV - the soundbar takes three sound sources: TV, BD / DVD and Bluetooth. The USB port is apparently available only for maintenance purposes. So I was able to at least the DVD player my parents hang on the Soundbar via optical connection. Again, I am thrilled considering the price of the soundbar.
Conclusion: Wonders one must not expect when it comes to surround sound. Play music, whether Röyskopp or Vivaldi, is a beautiful listening experience. For this price you get a very good device that is very well made, looks classy, but has only said two connection options. My "only" refers purely on TV sets with just a few connections. Have Fun!
Addendum 08.01.2015: A technician from the TV shop around the corner has an adapter mounted, with which the analog signals of the TVs are converted into digital signals for the soundbar. Say, the thing works and does it very well! However, it should continue to be the restriction that the Soundbar only replaces the very faint sound of the TV, but NOT a full surround sound system.
