A check before buying: there are lots of basic biology references: Campbell (competitor), Biology BCPST for Dunod; up to you which one you prefer.
As for me, are the patterns that determined my choice: I prefer to Campbell. This book is also less focused "pedagogy" that Wiley: it is a reference to academic knowledge and not methods; it is therefore well suited to university; less for studies preparatory classes.
Knowledge level: license Biology: no detailed knowledge (nothing on soil formation, boundary between biology and geology). The human being is considered a mammal; no specific human physiology.
