An Englishman who made folk. An acoustic guitar, a voice not exceptional (and again, not always, there are several instrumentals). Not even a harmonica like Dylan in the early 60's. The kind of stuff that we listen yawning two pieces before pressing the Eject button on the player and move on. Well, unlike a priori, this disc is superb. Its author is the emblematic figure of the English folk, of first solo (this is his first Cd), then with his accomplice John Renbourn before founding this British institution Pentangle. Impressive virtuosity (Jansch was hastily described as posterior acoustic Hendrix, while I think it is closer bluesman "diabolical" Robert Johnson by his dexterity) enough to make this captivating Cd. But this austerity stripped without any hint pop (pop that soon the most famous tease Donovan and Cat Stevens, or the USA Simon & Garfunkel), if it will be worth Bert Jansch qu''une fame reserved for a handful of ' insiders, enough to make an impact for people also claimed cults Nick Drake, as universal as Neil Young. "Bert Jansch" is one of the best four or five discs folk sixties. A must have.
