Clementoni - 62743 - Educational Game - Scientific - The triops (Toy)

Customer Review

My son had the kit for his birthday in February. Given the 25 ° and 14 hours of light per day necessary, we waited the end of March to launch the experiment. We set half of the packet as shown, without adding heating and artificial light and by demineralized water (sold in supermarkets). Overall when we put the eggs, water was around 21 ° C and then we have never checked the temperature (generally must oscillated between 21 and 22 °). 7 or 8 eggs hatched after more than a week and today it remains 3. Some have disappeared in the early days and for others, we suspect of having eaten them, especially as there were two distinct varieties and a variety has grown much faster than the other. This is fixed because now they are each in a compartment. The three survivors are now 4 weeks and they already measure 4 cm for the 2 biggest (which are orange) and 1 cm for the other (completely translucent except two very black eyes). We have set their sand and they love to play. it's very funny to see them jump through hoops and swim in all directions (both on the stomach and on the back) and they move very quickly. I acknowledge that my 8 year old son loves watching them and feed them; by cons for the water change, it's complicated for a child and it is I who am in charge (I change about 40 ml every 2 days). It is difficult to keep the aquarium clean because initially paid and the bag containing the eggs but also full of particles (a kind of small piece of wood) that are very difficult to remove for the largest. My technique: the syringe supplied with the kit and As, I aspire. Otherwise, triops 2 (orange) molt every 3-4 days and found their old skin in the aquarium perfectly intact as if they had removed their "pajamas" (expression of my son). In addition they have a kind of "vibrating lashes" in constant motion and it's quite impressive to see the speed at which they move. As they swim on the stomach as well as on the back, we were able to observe the above and below, and we even took pictures. As against the translucent triops, not much to say, it is quite slow in his movements, it remains small and does not do much.
A great experience anyway and endearing animals and still very funny to watch and very greedy (they swim all over the place when it's time for food). Would recommend
