Backfocus standard .....

Whether the many positive reviews I am somewhat surpised. Either the most reviews here faked, or but people snap all greatly dimmed. Meanwhile you can read everywhere that the D800 is basically fraught standard with a more or less strong Backfocus. And even here there are considerable differences. If you're lucky, has a D800 with even Backfocus and can fix this in principle by the AF fine adjustment. Others, and I belong to, unfortunately, have a D800 with a different backfocus behavior. In other words, the outer focus areas are more affected by the back focus as the middle cross AF points. Since then helps unfortunately no AF fine tuning, because I have to decide whether I adjust the outer or middle measuring fields correctly! Sure, if I only work with an aperture beyond 4, the fall not so significant since the depth of field is indeed here quite high. But I use bright fixed focal lengths, the anger has to start somewhere right. Then just not the eyes are sharp, but the ears! Well, who likes's ....

To bring it to a point: the customer is well known, more and more for the quality control of the manufacturer, but what Nikon has this thought, the barrel already proposed from the floor! It can not tell me that was this problem not known, but the AF-misconduct is simply too obvious. For me it is, moreover, already around the 2nd copy and also has the backfocus problems. Meanwhile, Cam was the adjustment in Dusseldorf. The general Backfocus is indeed resolved, unfortunately focusing middle and outer focus areas still different, so I'm putting them next week again to Dusseldorf! Have indeed nothing better to do.

Positive but I do not want to embezzle:

Meets the per se very good AF, producing images in a, in small format sector, unprecedented quality!
The dynamics (simultaneous playback of highlight and shadow, for example on a sunny day) is phenomenal, the reserves in the shade (RAW assuming) amazing!
My tip here: rather slightly underexpose, and then pull up the shade. Burnt lights are to save namely significantly worse.
The noise performance is also excellent, again a decent increase to the already very good D700

Image quality phenomenally well, so 5 stars with award !!!

AF quality also very good, if not only would the vexing issue Backfocus and the audacity Nikons, a Euro 3000, - deliver in this state body. For this performance, not even there 1 star from me!
