After much back and forth, the debut album of "Bad Astronaut" was released now but not as planned on Joey Cape's "My Records" but the Fat Wreck - Sublabel, Honest Don's. The album is sure to find something unusual for Honest Don's but not a handle in the toilet. With Bad Astronaut Joey Cape (Lagwagon etc.) and Co. have created a very experimental band. As with their EP "Acrophobe" (Feb. 2001) follow the seven musicians a rather strange but quite interesting indie pop line "Houston: We have a drinking problem." Convinces thanks to magnificent songwriting and Pop Art-melodies combined with the wonderful voice Joey Cape's. This wonderful mixture forms perhaps the best indie-pop band in the world! The use of instruments such as keyboards, strings and other makes for a lot of variety among the 14 songs. Certainly the heavy punk of Bad Astronaut is the quiet contemplative songs, but also the rapid and happier Parts can also be quite impressive. All in all, they provided with their debut album "Houston: We have a drinking problem" a bit much from ideal for quieter evenings :-).!
