The device was purchased from me because my amp on phono input distorted, minimal, but he distorted and of course out of curiosity (which can cause a tube sound ?!)
The phono preamplifier is very well made there's complain about. The power supply is separate both housing are connected to a cable. The devices are heavy and very solid.
At the front of the preamplifier two buttons, a volume control and a switch are not forgetting to switch between MC / MM and Line dasFenster where you can make a look at the tube. In the ON state, this is illuminated by a small red LED. Personally, I find that nice to look at, but has nothing to do with the function of the device or tube.
After connecting to the CD input to go directly to the audition.
I have my three favorites:
1. Trentemoller - The Last Resort.
Great! Punchy treble less intrusive, yet you can hear the details very well out. Everything sounds much warmer and more balanced.
2. Air - Moon Safari
Also well - before installing sound the plate hard and little harmony. Now the exact opposite without blurring the detail.
3. Schiller - Sun (Chill Out Vinyl)
Again, I've been watching the same thing. All much more harmonious and details are displayed cleanly.
Conclusion: the tube pre-amp is worth the money (at least for me). I am in love with the sound. The warm sound is great, sure there are better but again in terms of price performance is worth every penny of the small box.
